SCOUT 3

The camera built for one job — and it does that job perfectly. See your print register, register marks, and die-cut in real time, without the complexity you don't need.

Core Inspection Functions

Three tasks. One camera. Nothing extra.

Most flexo operations only need three critical visual checkpoints during a press run. SCOUT 3 was engineered around exactly those three — and nothing more.

Print Register

Monitor color-to-color alignment across every station of your narrow web press. Catch misregister before it becomes a rewind job.

Register Mark

Verify that register marks are printing correctly, positioned accurately, and consistent throughout the entire roll — not just at setup.

Die-Cut Inspection

Confirm die-cut alignment relative to print. Catch pitch errors, skew, and creep before the job is laminated or finished.

Product Philosophy

Why "simple" is the hardest thing to build

Most inspection cameras are built by engineers for engineers. They ship with 47 settings, a 300-page manual, and a two-day training course. The result? Operators skip it and judge by eye anyway.

SICHANGO SCOUT 3 was built differently — with press operators as the primary user, not the afterthought. It boots in seconds, shows you exactly what you need to see, and gets out of the way.

  • 01Purpose-limited by design — no mode switching, no feature bloat. Every interface decision was made to reduce cognitive load during a press run.

  • 02Fixed-focus optics sized for narrow web web widths — no fumbling with manual focus while the press is running.

  • 03High-contrast display optimized for press-room lighting conditions — readable at arm's length, even under LED floods or UV lamps.

  • 04No PC required. No software to install. No network. Plug in, position, and press run.

Market Positioning

What you don't pay for matters too

Full web inspection systems can cost $40,000–$120,000 and require dedicated IT infrastructure. SCOUT 3 fits a completely different role.

Common Questions

Before you ask your sales rep

Can SCOUT 3 detect misregister automatically and stop the press?
No — and that's intentional. SCOUT 3 is a visual aid for the press operator, not an automated defect-rejection system. It shows you what's happening in real time so a trained operator can make the call. For fully automated register control and press stop, a full-line inspection system is the right tool.
What web widths does SCOUT 3 cover?
SCOUT 3 is optimized for narrow web applications — typically up to 330mm (13") web width, which covers the vast majority of label and narrow web flexo presses. Contact us to confirm compatibility with your specific press.
Does it work on servo presses and older mechanical presses alike?
Yes. Because SCOUT 3 is a passive visual system — it just shows you the print — it is completely press-agnostic. It works equally well on a 1990s mechanical label press and a modern servo-driven digital hybrid.
How is SCOUT 3 different from just using a loupe or strobe light?
A loupe requires stopping or slowing the press and requires the operator to lean in physically. A strobe gives a frozen-frame view but requires calibration and offers no magnification. SCOUT 3 provides a live, magnified video image at full press speed — hands-free, at a safe operator distance.
What does "inspection camera for flexo" mean — is this the same as a web inspection system?

Not quite. A full web inspection system scans the entire web width continuously, logs defects, and can integrate with press controls. An inspection camera like SCOUT 3 gives the operator a magnified live view of a specific zone — it's targeted, manual, and far simpler to deploy. Think of it as a precision tool for operators, not a QC system for quality managers.
